The Oandu Old-Growth Forest Trail showcases the biodiversity of Lahemaa's old-growth forest — herbaceous plants, lichens, forest streams, and habitats created by storm-felled trees. The trail runs through spruces and pines over 100 years old, where deadwood is home to several rare insect and fungus species.
The ground-level trail runs along forest paths and through natural forest; in places the ground is wet. After heavy rains, the stream crossings can become a little muddy.
Seasonal access
The most animals are seen at dawn in May and June. The autumn mushroom season makes the forest especially atmospheric.
