The Noarootsi peninsula is an area of old Swedish settlement — almost all of its Swedish residents left in 1944. The Päraku trail leads to a place where old village sites lie sheltered beneath the coastal bluff.

The Sandy Shore Päraku nature trail is a short loop on the Noarootsi peninsula, where sand dunes and coastal pines form a distinctive shoreline landscape. Päraku beach is one of the few well-preserved sandy shores in western Estonia.
