Lake Kiidjärve is an artificial lake created by the mining of Devonian sandstone, and its clear water has become a popular swimming spot. The trail passes the site where the sandstone quarry ceased operation in the 1930s.

The Kiidjarv–Taevaskoja Trail is the longest scenic one-way trail in the Ahja valley, connecting Lake Kiidjärve with the Taevaskoja cliffs. Its 14 km pass through alternating sandstone and pine-forest habitats.
