The Rõuge Nightingale Valley Trail is the most beautiful short trail in southern Estonia, circling Lake Rõuge Suurjärv and leading to the edge of Nightingale Valley — a deep sandstone gorge where nightingales can be heard in May and June.
At the edge of the valley there is a viewpoint reached by a staircase. The lakeside trail is well maintained.
Seasonal access
The nightingales sing most intensely from late May into June, in the early morning. In winter, the frozen lakes offer a unique sight.
